CITY OF KILLEEN POSITION DESCRIPTION
Adoption & Care Assistant
Under the general supervision of the Adoption & Care Manager, performs a variety of duties necessary for the evaluation and marketing of animals for adoption and the development of rescue contacts
The employee will have the responsibility of:
· Showcasing and promoting animals using social media, takes videos and photographs, and utilizes concepts of graphic deign to create marketing material and content. This includes adoption follow-up with adopters, per owners, and rescue partners
· Performing intake activities including collecting and inputting animal data
· Coordinating with other departments on outreach development and recruitment
· Collecting and recording payments; preparing various reports; and handling cash and adoption paperwork and registration documents
· Helping recruit and develop relationships with animal rescue contacts and organizations, with the goal of increasing the shelter’s life release rate
· Assists in coordinating an effective pet foster program
· Assisting in the transport of equipment, the set up and teat down of event supplies, and arranging
· Participating with and supporting the Veterinarian Technician, in transport of animals to groomers, veterinarian appointments, rescue groups, or other locations as needed
· Maintaining accurate records of rescued animals
· Assisting in the preparation and completion of grant applications related to reducing pet overpopulation and increasing positive outcomes for animals
· Serving as an adoption counselor
The work environment will require the employee to:
· Be in situations that are subjected to animal bites, vicious and/or aggressive animals and communicable diseases from animals
· Exposed to chemicals used in disinfecting facilities
· Be in moderate noise to loud environments

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
· High School Degree or GED; and
· Six (6) months experience in event planning
Special Requirements:
· Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
· Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within 6 months of hire
