Qualifications
  • Master's degree in psychology, required; two years experience providing psychology services in an educational setting, preferred
  • Valid license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
Role Overview

A School Psychologist assists students with academic, social, and emotional well-being and works with students and families to promote student success. The School Psychologist is a critical member of the IEP team and is relied upon to provide insight and guidance to the team regarding student academic and behavioral functioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administering diagnostic and curriculum-based assessments.
  • Using intelligence and academic performance testing to determine student diagnoses and recommendations for specialized services.
  • Observing students in various academic and social settings to gain insight and data into students' overall functioning in school.
  • Providing consultative psychology services to parents and school staff as described in the IEP.
