The Director of Career and Transfer Services leads, oversees and manages career and transfer operations to include programming and support service initiatives; student guidance and assistance; partnership development with employers and transfer partners; budget management; and staff hiring, training and supervision. The director is responsible for developing, planning and implementing career development and transfer programs, as well as providing career and transfer counseling, training, information sessions and other related services to support the employability and /or transfer of CTC students and alumni college-wide.
Bachelor’s degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required,
Master’s degree preferred. Prefer major in higher education administration; counseling; business or human resources.
Three years of wage-earning experience in human resources, admissions, academic advisement, student life, career services, and/or closely related student success area with bachelor’s degree.
Two years of wage-earning experience in human resources, admissions, academic advisement, student life, career services, and/or closely related student success area master’s degree.
Experience with personal, educational, career advising and/or coaching preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
Responsibilities- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a diverse student population, educational colleagues and the community at large to include employers and college partners.
- Create, implement, and manage programs that meet the needs of students and support departmental and institutional objectives.
- Possess computer skills for creating analytical reports and for managing software programs that support career and transfer services.
- Supervise professional staff and coordinate with others outside of the department.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of institutional, community and workforce programs, courses, and resources.
- Demonstrate initiative, creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness in fulfilling work assignments and implementing long-range program improvement.
- Establish and manage a program budget.
- Collaborate with CTC faculty, staff and departments to support student recruitment, retention, completion, transfer and employment.
- Build strong partnerships with employers and four-year colleges.
- Assess career and transfer services and program effectiveness by conducting student needs and satisfaction assessments, tracking student participation and engagement trends and reporting outcomes.
- Participate in and lead college committees, initiatives and outreach activities that support students’ career and transfer goals.
- Attend and participate in all industry partner advisory board meetings so as to build contacts, programs and services.
- Hire, supervise and train career and transfer center staff and provide periodic training for advisors, coaches and other success staff who contribute to helping students select and remain on a pathway towards employment and/or college transfer to a four-year institution.
- Provide up-to-date job market information, job placement assistance, job search training, and transfer advisement to CTC students.
- Plan and conduct seminars and other group presentations.
- Other duties as assigned.
