UMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body.
- Assist in reporting and monitoring student attendance and tardies.
- Assist with bus issues and discipline and referrals.
- Monitor the supervision of students in places other than the classroom.
- Supervise student behavior during co‑curricular and extra‑curricular activities.
- Assist in monitoring and supervising the instructional program.
- Assist in providing and supervising professional learning opportunities for campus faculty and staff.
- Appraise and conduct short walks for professional building personnel as part of the teacher appraisal system and evaluation processes.
- Assist and supervise substitutes in the performance of their duties.
- Assist in the supervision of all campus staff.
- Develop duty schedules for professionals and paraprofessionals.
- Monitor plant security and safety standards to include fire prevention and school bus evacuations.
- Facilitate and/or assist with Impact Aid.
- Assist in the development and updates of the school crisis plan.
- Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the building.
- Request minor building repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain and monitor campus textbooks to include state textbooks.
- Assist in the budget process.
- Requisition, dispense, and inventory supplies and equipment.
- Develop instructional schedules for teachers, students, and aides.
- Act as test coordinator, 504 coordinator, at‑risk coordinator, RTI coordinator, dyslexia coordinator, random drug testing coordinator, LPAC representative, coordinator for employee return to work program and as coordinator for employee benefits enrollment and special education referrals.
- Coordinate all state and district level testing.
- Facilitate communication within the school and between school and community.
- Participate in program development at the campus and district level.
- Assist with issues related to special programs, such as Special Education, Bilingual, At‑Risk, 504, TAG testing, the behavior management program, etc.
- Assist with identifying and monitoring students who are served under state compensatory funds to reduce district dropout rates.
- Maintain campus employee and student handbooks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Assist with the supervision of teachers and staff at the assigned campus. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret professional journals; write routine reports and educational correspondence; speak effectively before groups of parents, students and/or faculty; effectively present information and respond to questions from faculty, parents, students, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHERSKILLS and ABILITIES
Must be familiar with computers, such as word processing, e‑mail, and internet; manage conflicts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSFrequently required to stand, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, push, pull, and twist. Walk, climb stairs/ladders, grasp, squeeze, extend/flex wrist, reach overhead, and drive. Frequently lift and carry 15–44 pounds and occasionally heavier lifts. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally restrain students and rapidly respond to violent situations. Deal with tense and confrontational situations.
WORKENVIRONMENT
Occasional district‑wide travel to multiple campuses. Noise level usually quiet/moderate. Occasional work during weekends and evenings for special school functions.
Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Master's Degree and three years of teaching experience.
- Principal certificate.
