Job Summary
Primary
Purpose:
Directs and manages overall campus operations, leading the campus instructional program to ensure high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, application of instructional programs, and effective operation of all campus activities.
- Monitor instructional processes to ensure alignment with outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions as needed.
- Provide instructional resources and materials necessary to accomplish instructional goals.
- Establish clear expectations for staff performance in instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
- Foster collegiality, team building, and active staff involvement in decision‑making.
- Solicit regular input from campus‑level committees and, when appropriate, from students and community representatives.
- Build a common vision for school improvement and direct planning activities to achieve the school’s mission.
- Establish campus performance objectives for Academic Excellence Indicators using the campus planning process and involve the site‑based decision‑making committee.
- Demonstrate campus progress using results to promote school improvement.
- Provide opportunities for interactive communication with the superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
- Act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations; develop a student discipline management system that promotes positive behavior and enhances the school climate.
- Ensure uniform application of school rules, equitable discipline, and appropriate student behavior management in line with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers about student and school issues.
- Analyze and use student performance data to guide instructional goal setting, campus planning, budgetary decisions, and professional development.
- Comply with district policies, state, and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools.
- Develop and administer campus budgets based on documented program needs and enrollment estimates, ensuring cost effectiveness and wise fund management.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents, including accurate attendance reports for textbook requisition.
- Manage school facilities, oversee maintenance to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; recommend personnel decisions such as assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal; approve all personnel assigned to campus.
- Conduct performance observations, record findings, and hold evaluation conferences with staff.
- Coach staff to develop professional growth opportunities and achieve improvement goals.
- Collaborate with campus‑level planning and decision‑making committees to plan professional development activities.
- Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit support for its realization.
- Oversee all campus‑level PEIMS‑related data entry, validation, and reporting requirements, delegating responsibilities to designated staff as needed.
- Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs, encouraging community and parent involvement.
- Ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standard practices for Texas Educators, applying legal knowledge to make sound decisions.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Superintendent in accordance with Board policy.
- Manage all teachers and staff, providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of campus operations.
- Master’s degree and at least three years of teaching experience, and/or a minimum of two years’ experience in instruction.
- Valid principal certification required.
