Third Future Schools is a high-achieving and growing network of charter schools. The network’s school in Killeen, Texas, Manor Middle School, is looking for a counselor.

The duties of a counselor include:

• Counsel students, parents, and guardians to enhance student success academically, socially, and emotionally.
• Counsel individuals and small groups of children toward social and emotional growth.
• Support students (and staff) with life events that negatively impact a student’s health, welfare, or ability to succeed at school.
• Coordinate with teachers, administrators, or community agencies (e.g., courts, child protective services) to provide or receive requested information and/or make recommendations.
• Monitor students’ progress to identify issues and take appropriate actions to increase student success.
• Prepare reports and correspondence to convey information, document activities, and provide reference material.
• Support the creation of a safe and positive educational climate where students can learn.
• Develop Student Learning Plans and help students accomplish their learning objectives.
• Support students in developing habits of success.
• Work with colleagues and administration to accomplish the school’s goals outlined in the School Action Plan.
• Expand personal leadership skills.
• Participate in professional learning communities and function well as part of a team.
• Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
• Manage student behavior by invoking approved disciplinary procedures when appropriate.
• Assist the principal and assistant principal in the day-to-day operation of the school as part of the leadership team.
• Assist with internal and external communications.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting with test administration.

The minimum salary for a counselor is $70,000. Health, dental, and vision benefits are also provided.
