Killeen ISD is seeking compassionate, dependable SPED Self-Contained Aide II professionals to support students receiving special education services across a variety of specialized classroom settings.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with teachers and campus staff to help students succeed academically, behaviorally, socially, and physically in a safe, structured learning environment.

This posting supports a variety of specialized SPED placements, which may include:

  • Behavior Management (BMU)
  • 18+
  • Skills
  • Functional Skills
  • Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
  • CASTLE

What You’ll Do:

Depending on assignment, responsibilities may include:

  • Support individual students and small groups with classroom instruction and skill-building activities
  • Reinforce lessons and learning strategies introduced by the teacher
  • Assist with implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Support students with communication, academic, social, and behavioral development
  • Help students use classroom tools, adaptive equipment, and instructional materials
  • Assist students during classroom transitions, drills, assemblies, activities, and campus routines
  • Support testing, make-up work, and classroom documentation
  • Assist with reading, oral communication, and structured learning activities
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and supportive classroom environment
  • Provide personal care support, including hygiene, toileting, feeding, dressing, and mobility assistance as needed based on assignment
  • Support physical or therapeutic activities under staff guidance when required
  • Serve as a classroom support resource when substitute teachers are present
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What You Bring:

To be considered, candidates must meet KISD Educational Aide II eligibility requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must meet ONE of the following Title I eligibility requirements (applies to most KISD campuses):

  • 48 completed college credit hours
  • Completion of Region 12 or Region 13 Paraprofessional Academy
  • Title I Aide certification/testing from KISD or another Texas district

AND meet ONE of the following Educational Aide II qualifications:

  • Two years of experience working with children
    OR
  • 15 college credit hours, including at least one course in:
    • Child Development
    • Psychology
    • Sociology
    • Education

Additional requirements:

  • Upload proof of highest level of education (transcript or certification documentation)
  • Ability to work effectively with students who have diverse academic, behavioral, developmental, and physical needs

Physical Requirements:

This is an active, hands-on role requiring:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and movement throughout the school day
  • Regular lifting, transferring, or assisting students and equipment
  • Ability to support student mobility, safety, and personal care needs
  • Indoor and occasional outdoor supervision in varying weather conditions
