The person performing this job provides instruction in traditional, online, and self-paced courses offered in the Office Technology Department. The incumbent will deliver instruction in a combination of all three methods; prepare instructional materials such as curricula, syllabi, and open education resources (OER); assist students and faculty with other matters pertaining to medical office programs; maintain student records; master current software applications;

and troubleshoot and correct software and equipment problems. The incumbent will also coordinate and support program revisions and creation.
Associate’s Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required;
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare field preferred.
Certification in healthcare field (i.e., RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS, CPB) preferred.
Three to five years work experience (dependent upon degree), exclusive of teaching, in area of specialization required. Documented evidence of HIM education and/or experience required.
Must obtain a AHIMA or AAPC coding certification within a year of hire.

  • Knowledge of health information management and managerial and support roles that provide administrative services in a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, and human diseases and pathophysiology.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), namely Blackboard.
  • Ability to research, prepare, and deliver health-related courses face-to-face, online, and blended.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Proficient in keyboarding, word processing, and document production.
  • Expert use of personal computer proficiency and popular business productivity suite software.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Instructional Duties
    • Provide instruction andfacilitatestudent learning.
    • Provide meaningful feedback on student progress.
    • Monitor and track student progress through Blackboard and other required college systems.
    • Develop, review, andmaintaincourse syllabi, instructional materials, learning activities, assessments, and other course resources.
    • Participate in the selection, evaluation, and implementation of textbooks, instructional materials, technology, equipment, and other resources appropriate toassignedcourses and programs.
    • Effectively use instructional technology, discipline-specific software, equipment, simulation resources, learning management systems, and other toolsrequiredfor instruction.
    • Prepare for and begin all instructional sessions on time.
  • Student Support
    • Advise studentsregardingacademic progress, program requirements, career pathways, credentialing opportunities, and other matters related to their educational and professional goals.
    • Participate in program recruitment, outreach, student engagement, and other activities designed to support enrollment, retention, completion, and career awareness.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Maintainaccurateand complete student, instructional, attendance, assessment, and enrollment-related records.
    • Complete andsubmitall required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Professional Responsibilities
    • Attend andparticipatein required faculty, departmental, program, committee, and college meetings and activities.
    • Maintain currency in the assigned discipline, including emerging practices, technologies, equipment, professional standards, industry expectations, and applicable certification, licensure, or regulatory requirements.
    • Complete professional development and other training requirementsestablishedby the college, department, program, accrediting bodies, orapplicableregulatory agencies.
    • Participate in institutional and programmatic accreditation, assessment, program review, quality improvement, compliance, and continuous-improvement activities as required.
    • Understand,comply with, and support college, departmental, and program policies, procedures, standards, and established practices.
    • Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, clinical or industry partners, and other stakeholders to support effective instruction, program operations, and student success.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, ethical conduct, and appropriate discretion in all interactions, communications, and responsibilities.
    • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
