Adjunct Faculty- Visual Arts -Ceramics

The Fine Arts Department at Central Texas College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor - Ceramics. This position will also require teaching a3-D Design course.

Courses are offered in a face-to-face format.

Adjunct (part-time), semester-based employment with compensation based on course load and institutional pay schedule.

• Education and Experience:
  
  Master’s Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education with 18 graduate hours in Visual Arts (Ceramics) required. Programs should be from a research-based university.
  • Minimum requirements would be 18 graduate credits in Visual Arts including course work that aligns with Ceramics.
  • Experience in ceramic art, including relevant studio techniques and processes such as hand-building,throwing,andothertechniquesasitrelatestothe design and production of ceramic sculpture and pottery.
  • Prefer college level teaching experience in Visual Arts.
  • Prefer Additional professional artistic experience through exhibitions or residencies.

• Effective classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Provide in-person instruction on ceramic hand-building techniques, throwing, glazing and surfacing of assigned pieces, concept development, and ceramic terminology for assigned courses. This includes preparation for in-class activities, evaluation of students' work, and regular consultation with students both in and outside of class and/or on-line
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.

• Knowledge of ceramic materials, glazing, firing and safe studio practices.
• Knowledge of kilns.

• Teaches assigned classes using syllabi, tests and textbooks approved by the department in accordance with established professional practices in the teaching area.
• Grades, evaluates, and monitors student progress and keeps accurate records for all classes taught.
• Provides feedback and communicates with students in a timely manner.
• Maintains professional skills, subject expertise and technology skills through continual involvement in developmental activities.
• Demonstrates effective class management, providing maximum opportunity for student progress.
• Ensures the course objectives, as defined in the syllabus, are accomplished.
• Adhere to college policies.
