Adjunct Faculty- Visual Arts- Metals

The Fine Arts Department at Central Texas College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor - Metals. The candidate will have a master's degree in studio art and professional experience in the field of Metals. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

This position may also require sometimes teaching a 3-D Design course.

Adjunct (part-time), semester-based employment with compensation based on course load and institutional pay schedule.

• Master’s Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education with 18 graduate hours in Studio Art with Metals as part of that degree.
• Experience in metalsmithing using techniques in jewelry design and metal construction.

• Experience teaching art at the college level or providing instruction through workshops, demonstrations, or other educational settings is preferred.
• Additional professional artistic experience through exhibitions or residencies.
• This position also may include occasionally teaching a 3-D Design course or an Art History survey course. Preference given to candidates who are willing to teach these.

• Knowledge of practical fabrication experience as it relates to the design and production of small-scale functional and/or non-functional objects, and safe studio practices.
• Generate works that demonstrate expressive and conceptual approaches, using materials including, but not limited to, various metals.
• Ability to teach students at multiple levels in the same class.
• Highly skilled in instructional area.
• Ability to communicate well and to utilize delivery systems as needed.
• Ability to organize information.
• Ability to keep accurate and complete records.
• Ability to maintain work space used in instruction.
• Provide in-person instruction on basic processes, including, but not limited to, shaping, cutting, forming, and other construction techniques.
• Demonstrate expressive and conceptual approaches, using materials including, but not limited to, various metals.
• Preparation for in-class activities, evaluation of students' work, and regular consultation with students both in and outside of class and/or on-line.
• Ensure safe studio practices.
• Follow the Class Learning Outcomes as laid out in the CTC syllabus.
• Maintain the CTC course syllabus and class outline at the beginning of the course, as per instructions from the school.
• Regularly upload and monitor class documents, assignments, and communications through Blackboard.
• Respond in a timely manner to students' emails.
• Maintain accurate class records and class assessments required by the college.
• Submit, when due, final grade reports.
• Maintain a safe and orderly classroom.
• Observe, support and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of CTC College.
• Work cooperatively within the college community and support the CTC Fine Arts activities.
• Foster a positive working environment that is free from harassment, prejudice and/or bias.
