Engineering Associate
Employee will conduct engineering studies, prepare designs related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of public infrastructure, and perform development reviews for code conformance.
Responsibilities- Under the guidance of a Registered Professional Engineer, designing Public Works infrastructure projects
- Reviewing construction plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards; reviews adequacy of various permit applications
- Using a variety of software applications, performs water, wastewater, drainage, and traffic modeling to determine the impact of development on these systems
- Conducting inspections and materials research and testing
- Evaluating deliverables from consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and vendors, including reviewing plans and specifications
- Providing oversight of Public Works infrastructure construction projects
- Responding to public or other inquiries relative to engineering policies and procedures
- Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of various material and construction cost databases
- Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration

- Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field
- One (1) year of experience in engineering design and construction, or related fields is preferred
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire
- Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
- Physically be capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions.
- Must possess an “Engineer-In-Training” certification and number or acquire same within one (1) year of hire date
