Project Engineer
To plan, manage, and coordinate the implementation of technical studies, design, and construction of City facilities and transportation, drainage, water and wastewater infrastructure projects in compliance with the City's master plan and standards.
This position requires a civil engineer.
Responsibilities- Preparing, negotiating, processing, and administering contracts with engineering, architectural, surveying, and other professional service companies, including drafting agreement documents, evaluating consultant fee proposals, and verifying compensation for professional services
- Reviewing the construction plans and related documents including bid package and ensuring compliance
- Communicating with the consultant and contractor to address technical and field issues and any conflicts in design and construction phase
- Attending final inspection, reviewing punch list items, and taking required measures for acceptance of City projects
- Reviewing construction materials or field test results and inspection reports and taking necessary steps
- Maintaining spreadsheets or other forms of documents for the accounting of Water and Sewer Bond funds, General Obligation Bond Funds for streets and drainage and other funding for Capital Improvement Projects (facilities, water, sewer, streets, and drainage)
- Monitoring local, regional, state, and Federal regulations on water, wastewater, highways, and drainage to ensure City compliance
- Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration

- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, construction engineering or a closely related field; and
- Minimum of three (3) years professional civil engineering experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire
- Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
