Information Assurance Specialist (Computer Operator III)

SUMMARY: Provide subject‑matter expertise in support of command‑and‑control systems involved in mobilization. Deliver immediate on‑site retail and unit‑level IT support for mobilizing and demobilizing units, including workstations connected to the Fort Cavazos network infrastructure. Duties are primarily confined to the North Fort Cavazos Mobilization Facilities and the HMB headquarters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide customer support to all IT customers in person, by phone, or via email.
  • Reimage computers.
  • Create/track status of remedy work orders.
  • Vet and create NIPR accounts.
  • Provide support to PC/networking environment, including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand‑alone PCs, network‑connected PCs, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Support responsibilities include software installation, operating‑system configuration, and loading needed programs.
  • Provide technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers by telephone and on‑site.
  • Perform hardware and software diagnostics, coordinate needed repairs, and resolve computer system problems.
  • Maintain and operate a classified SIPR Vault facility.
  • Coordinate issuance/clearing of IT equipment in buildings.
  • Adhere to all TLC Policies accessed through Deltek Costpoint (People > Employee Self‑Service > Company > Company Links > TLC Policies).
NON‑ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No supervisory responsibilities required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL):
  • 2 years of IT experience.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Publisher, and Adobe.
  • Excellent personal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, complete multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Valid state driver’s license with maintained driving privileges.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Common Access Card.
  • Must have a SECRET security clearance.
  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior work with military/government.
  • Associate degree in information technology.
  • Familiarity with military acronyms and terminology.
  • CompTIA A+ certification.
  • Security+ certification.
LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

Ability to read, comprehend, and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from both internal and external sources; effectively communicate and present information to customers and colleagues in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to stand for long periods, stoop down, lift and carry >50 pounds regularly; possess visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required for computer operation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT /

HOURS:

This position is not eligible for remote work; duties performed on‑site at Fort Cavazos. Work is indoors with no travel. 40‑hour work week, Monday‑Friday 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with potential weekend or holiday work as missions require.

EXPECTATIONS:
  • Transportation & Access: Reliable transportation to and from work; access to military installations.
  • Background & Drug Screening: Pass background check and pre‑employment drug screening; random drug and alcohol testing may occur.
  • Timesheets: Record actual work hours daily; ensure entries are accurate and timely.
  • Dress & Punctuality: Arrive on time and dress appropriately for the shift.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS:

All employees must undergo an initial background investigation; subsequent investigations may occur if warranted. Employment on federal installations requires compliance with government‑mandated investigations and maintaining security clearance.
