Aboutthe Role
As a Welder at Zekelman Industries, your key responsibility is fabricating high‑quality metal components used in modular building systems. This position requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
What You’ll Do- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies using measuring tools and fixtures.
- Examine work pieces and verify conformance to specifications using precision measuring devices.
- Weld a variety of metals and alloys including aluminum, stainless steel, and cast iron.
- Clamp, tack, and grind parts to achieve required configurations prior to final welding.
- Determine appropriate equipment and welding methods based on technical drawings and material properties.
- Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion of parts.
- Operate manual and semi‑automatic welding equipment including MIG, TIG, and arc welding systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to plan welding operations.
- Develop templates and models based on engineering drawings for accurate fabrication.
- Operate metal shaping, straightening, and bending machinery as needed.
- Promote and maintain safe work practices in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
- Maintain regular, full‑time, predictable onsite attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of welding experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environments.
- Welding certification, preferred.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read blueprints and accurately interpret weld symbols.
- Skilled in using measuring tools and performing basic fraction calculations.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage.
- Strong balance, hand‑eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Stand, bend, stoop, and work for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements requiring coordination and dexterity.
- Work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment with exposure to welding equipment and materials.
