This is a 14‑bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) that provides care for adults with complex cardiac conditions, including multisystem organ failures.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions Of

The Role
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Develop care plans that reflect patient values to resolve issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community to develop care plans. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Apply problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, contribute to peers’ development, and demonstrate community service commitment.
Key Success Factors
  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, regulations, and hospital guidelines.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology related to health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Specialized field of study in nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • Minimum of 1 year of ICU RN experience required.
