Special Education Teacher - Grades 5-8

The Killingly Therapeutic Academy is currently seeking a special education teacher to join our team in providing specialized services to students with identified social‑emotional disabilities. This program is designed as a clinical day program for students who require a more structured, therapeutic environment to access the general education curriculum.

We are looking for a passionate professional who is committed to fostering a positive and effective learning experience for students with unique needs.

Program will be supported by two full‑time clinicians, along with additional behavioral support staff, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive learning environment. With a student‑to‑staff ratio of approximately 1 adult to 3‑4 students, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with students in need of individualized support.

• Must hold a 165 Comprehensive Special Education Certification
• Knowledge of high school curriculum
• Understanding of trauma‑informed practices
• CTSEDS experience is preferred (not required)
• Strong desire to work with students with emotional disabilities
• Understanding of best practices in transition requirements for students grades 5‑8
• Experience working in other clinical programs is preferred
• Dually certified in general education and special education preferred not required
