the killingly therapeutic academy is currently seeking a special education teacher to join our team in providing specialized services to students with identified social-emotional disabilities. This program is designed as a clinical day program for students who require a more structured, therapeutic environment to access the general education curriculum.
the program will be supported by two full-time clinicians, along with additional behavioral support staff, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive learning environment. With a student-to-staff ratio of approximately 1 adult to 3-4 students, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with students in need of individualized support.
we are looking for a passionate professional who is committed to fostering a positive and effective learning experience for students with unique needs.
qualifications- must hold a 165 comprehensive special education certification
- knowledge of high school curriculum
- an understanding of trauma-informed practices
- ctseds experience is preferred (not required)
- strong desire to work with students with emotional disabilities
- understanding of the best practices in transition requirements for students ages 14-
- experience working in other clinical programs is preferred
- dually certified in general education and special education preferred not required
