The schools are located at six sites throughout Eastern Connecticut. Natchaug CDT offers special education services to students in grades 1–12 whose social, emotional or behavioral health problems prevent them from functioning successfully in a regular school environment. Each student’s individual academic and clinical treatment plan is designed to address their special needs and return them to their regular schools as soon as possible.

The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction for 6-8 students in a Clinical Day Treatment environment at Natchaug Hospital. These small classes and focused teams equate to successful student outcomes and a healthy work-life balance for staff. Coordinate academic expectations with the sending school district. Serve as the liaison between the home school and clinical staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Current certification from the CT State Department of Education
  • Current or pending special education certification required
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting (public or private).
  • Experience working with children and/or adolescents with behavioral and emotional needs preferred
  • Knowledge of education procedures for working with/teaching emotionally disturbed students, a plus
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, child and adolescent growth and development, and student learning styles, a plus
