Job Summary

Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu‑like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. They function in lieu of or alongside a physician and must have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct patients to the emergency room when necessary.

The position requires a commitment of 2 shifts per month and is offered on a per diem basis.

Job Requirements Education
  • Doctor of Physician Assistant (DPA) or equivalent for Physician Assistants.
  • Master’s Degree for Nurse Practitioners.
Work Experience
  • 2–5 years of post‑residency clinical experience.
  • Minimum 18 months experience in an applicable practice setting.
  • Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • National Certification (e.g., NCA, AANP).
  • Active state medical licensure.
Additional Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting.
  • Competence in office procedures such as suturing, splinting, and related interventions.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Strong listening, communication, and customer service skills.
Essential Functions

Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives.

  • Examining and treating patients.
  • Taking patients’ medical histories.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X‑rays.
  • Making diagnoses and prescribing medications.
  • Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
  • Recording progress notes for follow-up patients.
  • Educating and counseling patients.
  • Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients.
  • Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care.
  • Each provider will work an anticipated four (4), eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.
