district attendance coordinator
killingly public schools is seeking a dynamic, community-driven professional to serve as our next district attendance coordinator, a role that blends data, relationships, communication, and meaningful outreach to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. The attendance coordinator will play a vital role in analyzing attendance trends, ensuring data accuracy, identifying barriers, and developing creative, student-centered solutions to improve attendance across the district.
With a strong pulse on the community, this individual will build lasting connections with families, students, and staff while serving as a bridge between home and school.
- monitor and analyze district attendance data to identify trends and students in need of intervention.
- develop and implement strategies to improve student attendance.
- produce biweekly attendance reports and other data reports as needed.
- meet regularly with school-based teams to review attendance concerns and intervention plans.
- support building attendance secretaries to ensure consistent attendance procedures and accurate data entry across the district.
- build positive relationships with students, families, and community partners.
- communicate regularly with families regarding attendance concerns and available support.
- conduct home visits and residency verifications with professionalism and sensitivity.
- participate in school events, including open houses and community engagement activities.
- connect families with community resources that support regular school attendance.
- assist with student registration and enrollment as needed.
- help families navigate the registration process and ensure required documentation is complete.
- collaborate with the district's homeless liaison to support students and families experiencing housing instability.
- work with school administrators and student support teams to remove barriers to attendance.
- work closely with building administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, and support staff.
- participate in district attendance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
- bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- experience working with families, schools, or community organizations preferred.
- strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- ability to analyze data and problem-solve.
- valid driver's license and ability to travel between district schools and conduct home visits.
salary: $55,000 - $59,450 annually with full benefits.
