About the Role

Our client is seeking an analytical and insightful Agricultural Economist and Policy Analyst to join their team, serving the agricultural sector in the Kimberley, Northern Cape . This hybrid role involves evaluating the economic viability of farming operations, analyzing market trends, and assessing the impact of agricultural policies. You will provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making for farmers, agricultural businesses, and government bodies.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of economic principles applied to agriculture and excellent research and analytical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct economic feasibility studies and market analysis for agricultural products and ventures.
  • Evaluate the impact of government policies, regulations, and subsidies on the agricultural sector.
  • Develop economic models to forecast market trends, commodity prices, and farm profitability.
  • Provide advice on farm business management, investment planning, and risk management strategies.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their economic challenges and propose solutions.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural economics, policy analysis, or farm management consulting.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in econometric software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS).
  • Excellent understanding of agricultural markets, supply chains, and economic theory.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Willingness to conduct field visits and engage with clients as required by the hybrid role.
