About the Role
Our client, a vital non-profit organization working in the Northern Cape , is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Mobilizer to foster engagement and participation in their programs. This role is crucial for building strong relationships within communities, understanding local needs, and encouraging active involvement in initiatives designed to bring about positive social change. You will be the on-the-ground liaison, working directly with residents in Kimberley and surrounding areas to raise awareness, facilitate participation, and empower communities to take ownership of their development.
This position requires a deep commitment to grassroots engagement and community empowerment.
- Engage directly with community members to build trust and rapport.
- Raise awareness about the organization's programs and services within the target communities.
- Facilitate community meetings, discussions, and participatory planning sessions.
- Identify community leaders and key influencers to support program goals.
- Mobilize community members to participate actively in projects and events.
- Gather feedback from the community to inform program development and adaptation.
- Report on community engagement activities, challenges, and successes.
- Act as a bridge between the community and the organization's management.
- Proven experience in community development, social work, or a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to build trust and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Strong understanding of community dynamics and participatory approaches.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the Northern Cape region.
- A passion for community empowerment and social justice.
- Knowledge of local languages and cultural nuances is advantageous.
