Position Overview

Machinist – VMC operator responsible for shaping or grooving metal or plastic work pieces. Operate, set up, and maintain milling machines, lathes, shapers, and grinders to meet quality and production standards.

Job Requirements

  • Experience:

    Minimum 3 years in a machining shop, especially with Haas vertical machining centers
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, prototypes, and blueprints
  • Proficiency with master CAM is a plus
  • Ability to set up VMC machines, calculate speeds and feeds, and select proper tooling
  • Troubleshoot non‑conforming processes and optimize first‑run jobs
  • Use inspection equipment (micrometers, vernier calipers) to verify product conformance
  • Maintain machine tools in proper working condition
  • Program CNC and electronic instruments when required
Responsibilities
  • Perform all set‑ups, including calculating speeds/feeds and selecting proper support equipment.
  • Interpret and calculate dimensions or tolerances from prints and drawings.
  • Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to ensure conformance using precision instruments.
  • Monitor feed and speed during machining and adjust as needed.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used for precision machining.
  • Hit sampling parts and study engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations.
  • Fit and assemble parts to repair or build machine tools, including aligning and securing fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories.
