Bruce Power is seeking to enhance our Emergency and Protective Services team through building a pipeline of experienced, talented and dynamic individuals in the role of Emergency Services Maintainer.

What will you be responsible for?
  • Perform fire protection duties such as, but not limited to, combustible fire zone walkdowns, hot work inspections and fire impairments in accordance with procedural duties and responsibilities.

  • Respond to actual Site incidents within the prescribed time limits when called upon. This would include but is not limited to incidents such as, fire emergencies, 1st aid/medical situations, and rescue from heights or confined spaces, hazardous material emergencies, automobile extrication.

  • Interact with other agencies including but not limited to external fire departments, external ambulance services, external HAZMAT agencies, etc.

  • Acquire & maintain appropriate licenses for driving/operating motorized equipment including but not limited to DZ license.

  • Train/mentor ERT trainees including but not limited to theoretical training, practical skill training and evaluation of the trainees’ skills.

  • Perform inspection, testing and minor maintenance of Emergency Response Services equipment, both personal protective and field equipment, including but limited to, fire water supply/fire hose cabinets/fire hydrants, eyewash stations/emergency showers, emergency lighting units, speakers, fire extinguishers, and miscellaneous safety equipment, fixed and other fire protection equipment.

  • Perform safety-related inspections and interacts with other work groups.

  • Provides input to and interacts with other work groups regarding control of ignitions sources, including conducting field inspections, reviewing perimetry and advising responsible work group that corrective actions are required.

  • Review and ensure understanding of activated rescue plans regarding work in confined spaces or at elevated heights. The ESM may be required to work in confined spaces or at elevated heights.

  • Perform visual inspections and minor maintenance of all station fire exit doors and safety related signage.

  • Record and sign off appropriate record forms and/or digital process as per work management expectations.

  • Conducts, participates in, assesses, and evaluates station, site and Departmental emergency exercises, drills, shift practices and skill training as required.

  • Performs inspections, testing, fit tests and minor maintenance on various emergency and hazardous response equipment including but not limited to, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, fire-fighting equipment, and fire extinguishers, PPE.

  • Acts as a technical resource for site staff in emergency services response matters.

  • Provides training and information as required for emergency and non-emergency staff in emergency services response areas including but not limited to, respiratory protection, fire procedures, rescue considerations, shift training sessions, safety meetings, etc.

  • Attends and participates in all required training including but limited to ERT, ERO etc.
