Job Description

The Technical Trainer III is an expert-level facilitator and enablement partner responsible for delivering high-impact learning experiences that drive confidence, adoption, and effective use of Vertex products and solutions.

This role is trainer-first and enablement-focused. The Trainer ensures learners can not only understand concepts but apply them in real-world scenarios with confidence. In addition, this role leverages AI-assisted tools and insights to adapt training, personalize learning experiences, and continuously improve outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a master facilitator who can read the room, adapt in real time, ask evaluative questions, and use emerging AI capabilities to enhance - not replace - human-led learning.

Education & Enablement Workstream Contribution

As a key contributor across Education and Enablement, this role connects training delivery to measurable enablement outcomes, including adoption, readiness, and sustained performance.

This role partners with Instructional Design, Enablement Services, Product, and AI teams to ensure training experiences are reinforced through enablement pathways, performance support, and data-driven insights.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Expert Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Deliver engaging, high-impact in-person and virtual training experiences focused on learner application and confidence.
  • Facilitate learning through discussion, inquiry, real-world scenarios, and guided practice, not scripted presentation.
  • Read learner dynamics and adapt facilitation in real time based on learner signals, questions, and observed gaps.
  • Ask diagnostic and evaluative questions to assess understanding and guide learners toward independent problem-solving.
  • Manage diverse learner audiences and dynamics while maintaining psychological safety and learning momentum.
  • Travel to deliver training at client sites, regional centers, and conferences (up to 40%).
Enablement & Application Focus
  • Design and facilitate training experiences that align directly to enablement goals, including readiness, adoption, and effective use.
  • Reinforce training through enablement touchpoints such as job aids, guided workflows, and post-training reinforcement.
  • Partner with Enablement Services and stakeholders to ensure training supports broader customer and partner success motions.
  • Capture enablement insights from live facilitation to inform improvements in training and support resources.
Knowledge Transfer & Learning Effectiveness
  • Validate knowledge transfer during training through scenario-based exercises, learner demonstrations, and applied problem solving.
  • Identify learning gaps in real time and adjust facilitation strategies accordingly.
  • Define and measure success indicators beyond completion, such as confidence signals, behavioral change, and adoption metrics.
  • Use training and enablement data to continuously improve learner outcomes.
AI-Enabled Training & Adaptability
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools (e.g., LMS analytics, AI copilots, content intelligence, or knowledge assistants) to identify learner trends and common gaps.
  • Personalize reinforcement and follow-up learning.
  • Inform facilitation strategies and pacing.
  • Partner with AI and enablement teams to test and adopt emerging AI capabilities that enhance learning effectiveness.
  • Maintain strong judgment about when human facilitation is essential versus when AI-supported tools can accelerate learning.
  • Contribute trainer insights to the evolution of AI-driven enablement and learning experiences.
Training Content Partnership (Trainer-Informed Design)
  • Partner with Instructional Designers and SMEs to refine training materials based on facilitation insights and learner feedback.
  • Provide input on learning structure, sequencing, and reinforcement strategies.
  • Support updates aligned to product releases and enablement priorities.
