Description:
Join Our Team as an Avionics Battery Systems Engineer where you will be responsible for the design, development, analysis, qualification, test oversight and production oversight of batteries required for programs in the Strategic Reentry Portfolio. What does this role look like?
• Provide battery engineering support at battery suppliers to provide oversight for battery testing and production.
• Design and development responsibilities include drafting requirements, performing trade studies and creating battery specifications.
• Perform troubleshooting and Closed Loop Failure Investigations. Key activities you will accomplish in this role:
• You will provide battery engineering support at battery suppliers to provide oversight for battery testing and production.
• Battery engineering support will be provided for rechargeable and non-rechargeable lithium chemistries as well as reserve battery chemistries such as molten-salt thermal batteries, silver-zinc batteries and reserve lithium batteries. To be effective in this role, you will need:
• Prior battery development experience.
• 3+ years professional experience.
• While no clearance is needed to start this position, you will need to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required. Why Lockheed Martin? Basic Qualifications:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field from an accredited college/university, or equivalent experience/combined education
• Experience that includes battery design, development, testing, analysis, qualification and supplier production oversight
• Experience with Minuteman batteries or batteries from other strategic systems
• Experience with mechanical design, drawings, and computer aided design (CAD)
• Experience with additive manufacturing
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.
Desired
Skills:
• Experience with reserve battery chemistries such as molten-salt thermal, silver-zinc and lithium
• Experience with non-rechargeable and rechargeable chemistries
• Experience developing battery requirements and specifications
• Experience analyzing battery test data
• Experience supporting and/or performing failure investigations
• Prior experience as a battery Certified Product Engineer
• Experience working with suppliers and US government customers
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
