SEL ES is seeking a Relay Commissioning Technician with mid to senior‑level experience to support field commissioning and testing of protection and control systems. This role involves hands‑on work with power system equipment and relay testing tools, ensuring reliable operation of electric power systems.
Typical Day Responsibilities- Commission and test protective relay systems and associated power equipment.
- Use Doble, Megger, and Omicron test sets for validation and troubleshooting.
- Conduct functional testing for protective relay and control systems for transformers, switch gear, capacitor banks, generators, and recloser applications.
- Perform physical and functional verification of wiring to ensure proper installation and system integrity.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Document test results and support integration efforts.
- Travel to customer sites (up to 80%).
- 3–10 years of experience in relay testing or commissioning.
- Strong grasp of protection principles and control schemes.
- Comfortable working with Doble, Megger, or Omicron equipment.
- Familiar with Autocad, Micro Station and AcSELerator Quick Set and industry protocols (IEC‑61850, DNP, Modbus).
- Familiar with RTACs, HMIs, and network switches—or eager to learn.
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Certifications like OSHA, NETA, or NICET—or working toward them.

$33.00 – $60.00

Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job‑related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
