Accounts Payable Manager - Shared Services
The Accounts Payable Manager is a strategic and hands‑on role responsible for leading and managing the Accounts Payable function within a Shared Services environment. This high‑impact position focuses on optimizing AP processes, driving automation and efficiency, and maintaining strong financial controls across the organization.
This role partners closely with finance leadership and operational stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant AP transactions. Key responsibilities include establishing best practices, defining and monitoring KPIs, and continuously improving processes to support a growing, complex organization.
The ideal candidate is a process‑oriented, proactive leader with strong collaboration skills and a proven track record in shared services accounting. This role requires the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution while influencing across functions.
Primary Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the Accounts Payable function within Finance Shared Services, managing and developing the AP team to ensure accurate and timely transaction processing.
- Re‑engineer and optimize AP processes by leveraging automation and technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Serve as a key liaison between finance and operational teams to resolve escalated AP issues and maintain effective communication and service levels.
- Identify, analyze, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to AP performance; recommend and implement improvements to support continuous operational enhancement.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, including SOX, and maintain effective internal controls over the AP function.
- Support monthly close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries related to accounts payable.
- Partner with finance leadership to align AP operations with broader financial goals and strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution; advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate accounting or finance environment, including demonstrated success in process improvement and AP management.
- At least 5 years of experience directly managing an Accounts Payable or finance team.
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience supporting AP system implementations and ERP platforms.
