Senior Software Engineer - Oracle

What You Will Do

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support a large global pharmaceutical client in a regulated GxP environment. You will join an existing Scrum team responsible for developing and maintaining high-availability enterprise systems that support critical business and operational functions.

This is a hands‑on technical role requiring deep expertise in Oracle database development and Java‑based enterprise applications. You will contribute to performance optimization, system stability, and scalable application design while operating within compliance‑driven standards typical of the Life Sciences industry.

Location:

King of Prussia, PA or Remote

Duration: 6+ Month Contract

• Design, develop, and optimize Oracle stored procedures, functions, and packages using PL/SQL
• Analyze and tune complex SQL queries, including reviewing execution plans and resolving performance bottlenecks
• Utilize Oracle AWR reports and SQL Plan Management (SQL Plan Baselines) to stabilize and improve database performance across environments
• Develop and maintain enterprise Java applications using Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data)
• Implement RESTful APIs and support transaction management and dependency injection frameworks
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot applications within Oracle Web Logic Server environments
• Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and support automated builds and deployments using enterprise Dev Ops practices
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with QA, infrastructure, validation, and business teams to ensure compliance with GxP standards
• Support audit readiness, validation documentation, and adherence to regulated SDLC processes
• Provide technical expertise to ensure high‑transaction, high‑availability systems remain performant and resilient

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong Oracle and Java expertise
• Advanced proficiency in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development
• Experience with Oracle AWR analysis and SQL Plan Management (SQL Plan Baselines)
• Strong hands‑on development experience with Java Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data)
• Experience working in high‑availability, high‑transaction enterprise environments
• Oracle Web Logic Server deployment and administration experience preferred
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies and using Jira for backlog and sprint management
• Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices
• AWS cloud experience (application hosting, database connectivity, or migration initiatives) is a plus
• Experience in a GxP‑regulated Life Sciences environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device) strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
• Hands‑on technical mindset with the ability to independently solve complex engineering challenges
