Music Teacher

Starting date:
Aug 5, 2026.

Full time with benefits, 10‑month contract, 7.5 hours a day.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management of Instructional Time: Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment before each lesson; start class quickly; keep students on task; maintain high student time‑on‑task.
  • Management of Student Behavior: Establish rules and procedures for routine administration, verbal participation, classroom movement, and transitions; monitor behavior during all activities; address inappropriate behavior promptly while preserving student dignity.
  • Instructional Presentation: Review prior materials, introduce objectives, deliver lessons fluently and precisely, provide examples, assign tasks, ask appropriate questions, pace instruction, manage transitions, and summarize key points.
  • Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Set clear standards and due dates, circulate during class work to assess performance, use oral and written checks, and pose clear questions one at a time.
  • Instructional Feedback: Provide feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses, and offer sustaining feedback such as probing or providing clues for incorrect or no responses.
  • Facilitating Instruction: Design instructional plans aligned with system‑wide goals; use diagnostic information to revise objectives; record student performance; match strategies, assessments, and resources to student needs.
  • Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly; interact effectively with students, coworkers, parents, and the community.
  • Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Carry out assigned non‑instructional duties, comply with laws and policies, and pursue professional development.

Minimum Training and Experience

Degree in education or a related field that qualifies for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • Physical Requirements: Use a variety of equipment and classroom tools, lift, carry, push, pull or move objects with negligible force, and perform light work consistently.
  • Data Conception: Compare and judge observable characteristics of data, people, or objects.
  • Interpersonal Communication: Speak and signal to convey information, receive instructions, and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Language Ability: Read and prepare written correspondence, reports, and instructional materials.
  • Intelligence: Apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; interpret technical instructions.
  • Verbal Aptitude: Record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Numerical Aptitude: Use mathematical formulas, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages, and basic statistics.
  • Form/Spatial Aptitude: Inspect items for proper dimensions.
  • Motor Coordination: Coordinate hands and eyes for use of office equipment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Handle office equipment and hand tools with minimal coordination requirements.
  • Color Discrimination: Differentiate between colors and shades.
  • Interpersonal Temperament: Adapt to stress and emergency situations while interacting with people.
  • Physical Communication: Talk and listen effectively, including telephone use.

  • Constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students, particularly during inclusive activities.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment and perform general clerical duties.

Position Type and Salary

Full‑time position. Salary: $4,100 per month.
