Licensed Practical Nurse, King Veterans

Position Summary

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is a 24/7/365 long‑term care facility located on the Chain O'Lakes, providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled Wisconsin veterans and their spouses. WVHK is recruiting Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions to deliver direct and indirect care to residents.

• Provide quality, routine patient care for geriatric and/or disabled residents.
• Make critical observations, perform personal care, treatments, medication administration, and documentation.
• Collect patient data (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, glucose checks) and participate in indirect care management.
• Maintain assigned unit or building and support activities that advance unit, building, bureau, and facility goals.
• Move, reposition, and transport patients; stand, walk, and lift as required (up to 75% of a shift).
• Use safety equipment and wear protective clothing when necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the facility.

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to hire.
• Experience in basic nursing care, medication administration, and basic treatments.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong professional communication skills and computer proficiency.
• Experience in long‑term care, geriatric, skilled nursing, or a related setting.

Salary ranges from $29.42 to $37.83 per hour, based on experience, with additional pay for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Positions at 60% full time or greater are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Sign‑On Bonus: $3,000 for eligible employees who remain in the position for one year (first $1,500 paid in the first paycheck; second $1,500 paid upon attaining permanent status).

• Full time (40 hrs/week)
• Part time (less than 40 hrs/week)
• Evening 2nd Shift (2 pm‑10 pm or similar hours)

Positions require availability for varying hours and overtime as assigned.

• Criminal background check and tuberculosis skin test prior to employment.
• 12‑month probationary period may apply.
