- 3:30 p.m. (Summer Hours 6:00 a.m.

• Performing/leading skilled maintenance operations for assigned facilities or sites; receiving and processing work orders and service requests; inspecting facility, equipment, and/or vehicle conditions.
• Installing, operating, and/or maintaining devices, vehicles, and other equipment.
• Preparing and maintaining reports and records; addressing safety issues.
• Load and unload heavy equipment onto trailers; tow equipment to/from various job sites and/or repair facilities.
• Perform vehicle and equipment pre/post trip inspections; monitor and replenish fluids; perform basic corrective repairs.
• Operate Backhoe, Excavator, and Skid Steer (minimum proficiency).
• Drive dump trucks on a regular basis.
• Operate Rubber Tire Loaders, Jet Vac Trucks, Track Loaders, Camera Trucks, and Motor Graders.
• In the stormwater maintenance section, camera trucks or Jet Vac Trucks may substitute for one of the above heavy equipment pieces.
• Perform manual labor on projects: assist in hand‑digging ditches and trenches; back filling; compacting and leveling earth; looping asphalt; setting forms for concrete installation; leveling and brooming concrete; installing brick pavers; construction landscaping.
• Assist with traffic control device installation and flagging operations for stationary and moving work zones.
• Submit neat and complete written and/or electronic records: timesheets, maintenance history report forms, pre/post trip inspection forms, and other cost records as needed.
• Check and clean basins.
• Utilize performance management system to document work progress and performance.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Four years of equipment operation, or technical repair experience in areas related to the assignment.
• Valid NC Class B Commercial Driver’s License.

• Proficiently operate at least three (3) pieces of heavy equipment from the following list:
  Backhoe, Excavator, Rubber Tire Loader, Jet Vac Truck, Skid Steer loader, Motor Grader, and Dump Trucks.
• Knowledge of DOT traffic laws and requirements applicable to heavy equipment operation.
• Position designated as a Group 1, meaning it is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.
• Subject to stand‑by/recall and after‑hours’ work and work during inclement weather.
• Required to operate service truck and/or dump truck outfitted with a plow based upon class of license possessed during winter weather operations.
