Job Description

Summary/Objective

Create a flexible classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students, parents, and staff; and promote social, physical, and intellectual development through subject matter and skills that support student success. Assist students in earning industry-recognized certifications and gaining work‑based learning opportunities in the field of Construction Trades.

Essential Functions

  • Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to job, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
  • Teach district approved curriculum, as specified in the Arizona Standards
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students involved
  • Guide learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and (in harmony with the goals) establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
  • Communicate regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
  • Partner with local businesses to ensure the curriculum is relevant and to create real‑world learning opportunities for students, such as internships or field trips.
  • Help students with career planning, decision‑making, and connecting their skills to potential job opportunities.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations and rules
  • Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner
  • Teach students how to use tools and equipment safely and demonstrate specific skills related to a trade or occupation.
  • Evaluate student learning through assignments, projects, and exams, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Train students to pass industry certifications required for their chosen career path

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt, part‑time position (1-2 class periods per day) contracted for 148 days from July through May.
