CTE - Construction Technology Teacher

Summary/Objective

Create a flexible classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students, parents, and staff; promote social, physical, and intellectual development through subject matter and skills that support student success; assist students in earning industry‑recognized certifications and gaining work‑based learning opportunities in the field of Construction Trades.

• Respond to all internal and external customers in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner.
• Teach district‑approved curriculum as specified in the Arizona Standards.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of students.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Communicate regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Partner with local businesses to ensure the curriculum is relevant and to create real‑world learning opportunities such as internships or field trips.
• Help students with career planning, decision‑making, and connecting their skills to potential job opportunities.
• Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff information even after no longer employed.
• Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules.
• Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner.
• Teach students how to use tools and equipment safely and demonstrate specific skills related to a trade or occupation.
• Evaluate student learning through assignments, projects, and exams, and provide constructive feedback.
• Train students to pass industry certifications required for their chosen career path.

This job primarily operates within the school environment.

Regularly required to observe, communicate, and exchange information; remain stationary, move about, and reach; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

This is an exempt, part‑time position (1–2 class periods per day) contracted for 148 days from July through May.

CTE Teacher Certification:
Industrial and Emerging Technology; preferred teaching experience in a public school district.

Teaching certification issued by the Arizona Department of Education, appropriate to the teaching assignment.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
