Job Description

Summary/Objective

Ensure efficient operation of the Speech teletherapy services, by providing instructional and clerical support under the supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist and Special Education Director. The Para educator works with students who have been identified as having a speech need. This position exists to support student achievement in speech and language services.

Essential Functions

  • Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the job, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
  • Coordinate teletherapy services with school site and speech language pathologist.
  • Copy, collate, and file worksheets and requested documents
  • Operate and care for equipment used for instructional purposes
  • Provide general clerical support to speech therapists
  • Prepare materials for therapy as request by therapists
  • Work with small groups on speech interventions under the guidance of the speech language pathologist
  • Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules
  • Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

At-Will Notice of Employment does not provide a guarantee of a particular schedule of work or a minimum number of days or hours.

Thisis a 9-month, 30-hour per week position. This position is eligible for medical benefits. The employee will work 7.5hours per day Monday through Thursday during core business hours.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • AA degree, 60 college credits from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an Arizona state-approved competency exam (Para Pro)

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience working with students or children.

Required Certifications/Licenses

May require First Aid/CPR certification and/or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
