About the Position
Engineering Technician – Starting Salary – Range 13, $21.09
Engineering Technician Senior – Starting Salary – Range 14, $22.15
Engineering Technician Specialist – Starting Salary – Range 16, $24.42
This position involves both office and field work. The employee will regularly interact with the public at the front counter, in the field, and over the phone. Some travel is required for training sessions and to conduct inspections in rural areas.
Working Conditions- Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to erect and climb ladders and work using them at heights of up fifteen (15) feet above ground.
- Exposure to RF emissions and low voltage DC equipment.
- Exposure to chemicals, infectious materials, methane emissions and other hazardous or disagreeable elements such as leachate, solid waste, heavy metals, sewage, septage, dust and industrial waste.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures and high winds depending upon location of inspection site, isolated, remote areas.

- Inspects, evaluates, and renders decisions of compliance or violation on various types of onsite wastewater systems and related infrastructure for adherence to environmental laws, rules and regulations as set by State of Arizona.
- Reviews construction plans and specifications for various types of onsite wastewater systems situated on public establishments and or private property owners for compliance to environmental rules and regulations as set by State of Arizona.
- Investigates, responds, and resolves citizen's complaints involving potential or possible environmental and public health problems as they relate to onsite wastewater systems.
- Coordinates inspection activities with other County departments and governmental agencies.
- Secures compliance with pertinent regulations by promotion, education and enforcement of environmental quality and health rules and regulations as set by State of Arizona.
- Prepares reports, maintains records and issues environmental quality related violation or closure notices, orders and citations as prescribed under Mohave County delegation agreement with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
- Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
- Testifying in court proceedings related to compliance and enforcement actions.
- Reviews for approval onsite wastewater permit plans for conformance to Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality delegation provisions.
- Performs inspections of constructed septic systems for compliance with plans.
- Witnessing of soil testing for wastewater treatment systems.
- May lead special projects or programs including assisting with development of policies and procedures, training and/or supervision for assigned staff.
- Guides, trains, reviews the work of, and oversees less experienced Engineering Technicians or others as assigned in learning, performing and completing job tasks which include, but not limited to, Water and Wastewater System review and comment, Landfill Environmental Report Development review and comment, outreach strategies and implementation, development of resolutions and or IGA’s related Water and Wastewater Systems and grant projects, engineering calculations, grant…
