The City of Kingman is seeking an individual for an Evidence Tech position that can work in a high-paced environment that is detail orientated. If you are interested in a career in forensic science or criminal justice, then this position is for you!

As an Evidence Technician (Entry Level), your core responsibilities involve performing semi-skilled to skilled technical crime scene investigations. This includes identifying, collecting, preserving, photographing, and processing physical evidence—such as comparing fingerprints—and managing crime scene photography from development to court exhibits. You will maintain meticulous evidence records, inventory, and chain-of-custody documentation, and provide related courtroom testimony. Operating under Federal and State laws, policies, and procedures, you will work under the direct supervision of a Police Sergeant or higher, receiving daily guidance and instruction from journey-level Evidence Technician II staff.

Because of the department's operational needs, this position requires working varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, alongside mandatory overtime and call-in availability throughout the year.

You are an entry-level professional eager to build a foundational career in crime scene investigation and evidence management. You possess a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail, showing a growing capacity for independent judgment as you gain experience and training. Highly coachable, you welcome close supervision and feedback from senior staff while learning the full scope of evidence processing and handling.

You are deeply committed to your professional development, showing readiness to actively pursue continuous learning, required licenses, and additional certifications. Ultimately, you are motivated to progress within the classification, demonstrating the proficiency needed to advance from an entry-level role to a journey-level Evidence Technician II based on the City's established criteria.

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by college level coursework in evidence collections and handling, Crime scene investigations; crime scene technology, forensic science, chemistry, law and legal, courtroom procedures and the criminal justice system.
• Two to three (2-3) years experience in property accountability, warehousing, inventory control, law enforcement work or related field and/or.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible customer service and related technical experience in working with the public to gather, provide, or present information.
• Advanced photographic experience or training preferred.
• Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.

• Education equivalent to the completion of high school supplemented by college or university coursework in criminology, administration of justice, police science, forensic photography, or a closely related field. (Two years of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education).
• Associate’s degree in Forensics, Criminalistics, Chemistry or related field desired.
