RISE provides services for people with disabilities including residential settings, day programs, employment assistance, managed care, and hourly supports. Our mission is to create opportunities for and with people, including employees and stakeholders.
Qualifications- Experience and education in the field of developmental disabilities or related field preferred (a requirement for habilitation).
- Desire and interest in working with people with disabilities or special needs.
- Verbal and written communication skills adequate to the specific job.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age; over twenty-one (21) if required to drive a RISE vehicle.
- Satisfactory background check and Level One Fingerprint Card clearance.
- Specific language abilities (other than English) may be required to meet the needs of people/families receiving support.
- Reliable transportation to the work site and access to a telephone.
- Must complete training courses in CPR, First Aid, and Article 9.
- This caregiver employment position is for parents with children ages birth to 17 years old; once the child turns 18 years, parents must sign a new different job description.
- 40-hour per week per minor child limit for parents, including assessed hours for both attendant care and habilitation.
- Both parents can only work for a single qualified vendor agency.
- Paid caregivers can only provide 16 hours of paid care in a 24-hour period.
- Beginning July 1, 2025, any additional assessed hours for attendant care or habilitation must be completed by an alternate direct support professional.
- Provide assistance to people receiving support through implementation of the RISE mission, vision, and values.
- Demonstrate respect and promote choice.
- Promote the rights of people receiving support and contribute to an environment free of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Assist people (as applicable) with the following supports:
- Daily living
- Hygiene
- Intimate care
- Meal planning/preparation/clean‑up
- Mobility
- Encouraging relationships
- Accessing their community and providing/arranging transportation
- Lifting/transferring
- Therapeutic objectives
- Behavioral supports to include redirecting and/or physically supporting people using approved techniques
- Adequate supervision
- Medication and medical issues when indicated, following medical protocols and doctor’s orders.
- Other needs of the person/family as identified by the team
- Provide support in specific service areas as needed:
- Attendant Care Provider: support in daily living and hygiene in people’s homes, requiring specific funding agency approval.
- Habilitation Provider: supports as above and achievement of outcomes specified in the plan, including documentation.
- Respite Provider: supervision and support in people’s own homes or professional parent homes, usually daily.
- Companionship Home Provider: supports as above and achievement of outcomes specified in the plan.
- Act as an appropriate role model and support appropriate language, dress, table manners, respect, and other behavior.
- Ensure clean and safe environments are maintained.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies such as fire, First Aid, CPR, approved medical protocols, or behavior intervention.
- Follow RISE personnel practices and policies, including: report to work on time, avoid excessive absenteeism, obtain prior approval for time off, work scheduled hours, attend staff meetings, and complete mandatory training.
