Position PurposeAll KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.
Key Responsibilities- Works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
- Triage patients by phone or in person, receiving and implementing telephone physician orders, maintaining clinical communication in a dynamic environment.
- Responsible for maintaining all applicable KHI Policies and Procedures.
- Escorts patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam including vital signs, history, and reason for seeking care.
- Cross trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charging fees and collecting payments due.
- Schedules/confirms appointments.
- Maintains and facilitates communication between patients, family, and clinical staff.
- Reports as necessary to Public Health at direction of provider.
- Maintains work area including exam rooms, supplies, medication, and immunizations.
- Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens.
- Performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.
- May perform venipuncture.
- Participates in division meetings.
- Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license
- BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
- Ability to maintain attention to detail
- Knowledge of and ability to use computer hardware and software applications
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol
- Knowledge of and ability to implement direct care for newborn through geriatric patients
- Knowledge of and ability to use basic medical terminology
- One to two years’ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinical outpatient setting
Position Requirements
- Category I:
Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. - Other potential hazard(s): possible exposure to chemical, biological and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
- Must be able to distinguish appropriate colors
- Capable of consistently reaching and/or working above and below shoulder level, lifting up to 50 pounds
- Capable of walking or being on feet 90% of time per day with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing; sitting at desk 10% of the time per day
- Communicating using telephone
