Position

Purpose:

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI's vision of providing the region's best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide. professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.

* Triage patients by phone or in person, receiving and implementing telephone physician orders, maintaining clinical communication in dynamic environment.

* Responsible for maintaining all applicable KHI Policies and Procedures.

* Escorts patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam including vital signs, history, and reason for seeking care.

* Cross trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charges fees and collect payments due.

* Schedules/confirms appointments.

* Maintains and facilitates communication between patients, family, and clinical staff.

* Reports as necessary to Public Health at direction of provider.

* Maintains work area including exam rooms, supplies, medication, and immunizations.

* Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens.

* Performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.

* May perform venipuncture.

* Participates in division meetings.

Qualifications

Education:

* Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program

* High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure:
Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license

Certification: BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Skills and Knowledge:

* Ability to communicate effectively with others

* Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks

* Ability to maintain attention to detail

* Knowledge of and ability to use computer hardware and software applications

* Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol

* Knowledge of and ability to implement direct care, newborn through geriatric

* Knowledge of and ability to use basic medical terminology

Preferences

Experience:

One to two years' experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinical outpatient setting
