Position PurposeAll KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision to be the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country.
Key Responsibilities- Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, and clinical leadership of the Registered Nurse (RN), the LNA performs clinical nursing procedures and functions within the Arizona (AZ) LNA Scope of Practice.
- Supports the plan of care for each patient, as determined by the health care team, and in accordance with the goals of the organization.
- Works to improve patient safety and patient experience.
- Manages daily living and safety needs of assigned patients.
- Assists registered nursing personnel in the care of patients by performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services.
- Coordinates with other departments to provide timely effective care consistent with individual’s needs, choices and preferences.
- Obtains and records vital signs, heights and weights per policy.
- Meets patient’s personal hygiene and basic needs in a timely manner.
- Ensures patient is comfortable, necessary supplies are available and in reach.
- Keeps patient environment safe and tidy.
- Provides patient specific care as appropriate to age of patient.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients, including use of appropriate therapies such as play, written and picture boards.
- Reports changes in patient’s condition, out of normal values, patient/family concerns or complaints to nurse, charge nurse or supervisor.
- Applies AIDET and other evidence-based behaviors.
- Participates in developmental and organizational initiatives for process improvement and quality assurance as requested.
- Follows appropriate infection control procedures.
- Performs and accurately documents procedures directed by the RN / LPN:
- Blood glucose checks and documentation
- Discontinuation of urinary catheters
- Discontinuation of peripheral IVs
- Performs skin care interventions and treatments, as permitted by state regulation.
- Maintains patient and staff confidentiality.
- Assists in the orientation of new staff as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Unit Specific Responsibilities:
- Med/Surg, Peds, PCU, ICU, Observation Unit, and ER:
- Maintains educational and training requirements to fulfill the role and responsibilities of a Unit Coordinator as outlined in the Unit Coordinator job description.
- Regularly updates patient communication boards.
- Performs hourly rounds with patients.
- Performs bedside shift report.
- Assures patient belongings are accounted for on admission and transfers and returned at discharge.
- Performs designated admitting tasks.
- Records accurate intake and output for each patient.
- Provides backup support to a Camera Tech in specific units, including managing video monitor equipment and documenting patient status.
- Home Health and Hospice:
- All documentation is completed accurately and timely (no later than 8 am the next day).
- Maintains productivity of at least 5–6 patients per day.
- Hospice House:
- Performs hourly rounds with patients.
- Performs bedside shift report.
- Assures patient belongings are accounted for on admission and transfers and returned at discharge.
- Performs designated admitting tasks.
- Records accurate intake and output for each patient.
- Med/Surg, Peds, PCU, ICU, Observation Unit, and ER:
- Must be 18 years of age or greater.
- Experience:
Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant, or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant certification program. - Education:
High School or equivalent. - Licensure:
Current valid Arizona LNA License. - Certification:
Current BLS through the American Heart Association BLS or American Red Cross. - Unit Specific:
- Pediatrics:
- Two‑week pediatric orientation with annual competency in pediatrics.
- Home Health:
- Level one fingerprint clearance card, or application, required within 20 days of hire.
- Current and valid Arizona Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Hospice and Hospice House:
- Level one fingerprint clearance card, or…
