Position

Purpose

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Medical Assistants (MA) assist in providing excellent patient care by assisting physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in a medical office setting. They perform a variety of patient care duties within the construct of a multidisciplinary patient care team as delegated by the physician.

Hours/Shift

Full Time/Days – work schedule is either Mon‑Fri or Tues‑Fri.

Key Responsibilities
  • LPN
    • Works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
    • Triage patients by phone or in person, receive and implement telephone physician orders, maintain clinical communication in a dynamic environment.
    • Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care for both clinic and procedures.
    • Performs CLIA‑waived lab tests and obtains specimens, performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.
    • May perform venipuncture.
  • MA
    • Responsible for patient care under the direct supervision (in the office suite or exam room) of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
    • Escorts patient to the exam room and prepares patient for the exam including vital stats, history, and reason for seeking care.
    • Cross‑trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charge fees and collect payments due, schedules/confirm appointments.
    • Performs CLIA‑waived lab tests and obtains specimens, performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.
    • May perform venipuncture.
Qualifications
  • LPN Candidates
    • Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program
    • High School or Equivalent
    • Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • MA Candidates
    • High School or Equivalent
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
    • DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
    • Must meet one of the following criteria:
      • Has attended a medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following:
        The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools;
      • If your Medical Assistant program was not accredited by one of the above agencies, you will need to have a Medical Assistant Certification issued by one of the following. If you meet eligibility to take the exam, we will assist you in obtaining a CCMA certification.
        • National Health career Association: CCMA
        • American Medical Technologist: RMA
        • American Association of Medical Assistants: AAMA
        • National Center for Competency Testing: NCMA
        • American Medical Certification Association: CMAC
      • Has completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States
