American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and float coverage between ED and CDU.
Details- Float between the Emergency Department and CDU (Observation Unit)
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Meditech charting system experience preferred but not required
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Orientation held every Monday
- Active RN license (AZ or Compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
- ESI certification preferred
- Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Center settings preferred
- Experience in teaching and community hospital settings preferred
- Pediatric Emergency Department experience preferred
- Skills in triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Experience managing trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, and blood product administration preferred
- Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, and ABG interpretation preferred
- Experience with emergency medications including IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
- Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury preferred
- Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health patients including acute psychosis and suicidal ideation
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric presentations
- Assist with orthopedic care including splint application and management of ortho trauma cases
- Responsible for identifying and reporting suspected neglect or abuse
- Follow isolation precautions and proper PPE protocols
- Orientation modules are included as part of the assignment and are non-billable
- First-time travelers are accepted if they have more than 2 years of ED experience, with the understanding that orientation is limited to 12 hours
- Local candidates and first-time travelers accepted at the same pay rate
- Travel pairs are accepted
- Former permanent employees must wait 12 months before returning as travelers
- RTO should be kept to a minimum and included at time of consideration
- Blocked scheduling cannot be guaranteed
