DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Pre/Post/PACU flex day shift role requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications along with call availability.
Details- Covers Pre-Op, Post-Op, and PACU (Phase I and Phase II Recovery) settings, including inpatient and ambulatory/outpatient care
- Day shift schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 9:00 AM-7:30 PM (4x10-hour shifts) - On-call responsibilities required, averaging 5-6 call shifts per month
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Cares for a variety of surgical populations including ortho, neuro, GI, GYN, urology, thoracic, and pediatric patients
- Performs procedures such as arterial line management, central line care, IV therapy, and blood product administration
- Manages patients under various anesthesia types including general, spinal, MAC, and nerve blocks
- Utilizes any charting system, with Meditech experience highly preferred
- Active RN license (AZ or Compact) required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS, all in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and airway assessment
- Experience with pain assessment and management, including PCA pump management
- Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE use
- Experience performing pre/post-operative care duties such as EKG/ECG acquisition, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across Pre-Op, PACU, and Post-Op phases
- Manage pain, sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring for surgical patients
- Support surgical teams across a wide range of specialties including ortho, neuro, GYN, and GI procedures
- Holiday coverage required
- RTO should be kept minimal and submitted in advance
- Former permanent employees must wait 12 months before returning as travelers
- Locals and first-time travelers accepted at the same pay rate
