Position

Police Recruit — City of Kingman Police Department (Kingman Police Department)

Salary: $27.58/hr ($57,366 annually) for hire in recruit / Non‑AZ POST Certified; $28.96/hr ($60,237 annually) for Post Academy graduation / AZ POST Certified.

About the Role

The position operates in a 24/7 law enforcement environment and includes academy training, certification, and field training for qualified non‑certified recruits.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas, respond to dispatched calls, enforce criminal and traffic laws, make arrests, conduct searches, control crowds, direct traffic, and respond to emergencies including evacuations and hazardous situations.
  • Conduct at‑scene and follow‑up investigations, interview witnesses and suspects, collect and preserve evidence, prepare investigative findings, serve subpoenas and warrants, testify in court, and support the judicial process.
  • Interact with the public, mediate disputes, assist individuals in need, perform welfare and security checks, communicate with informants, and maintain professional relationships with community members and partner agencies.
  • Prepare detailed reports, maintain required records accurately and timely, operate law enforcement tools and systems, maintain proficiency with equipment, follow department policies, work safely, and support operations through regular attendance and professionalism.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (college coursework in criminal justice or related education or experience is preferred).
  • At least 21 years of age by completion of the police academy.
  • Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.
  • Arizona State Certification as a Police Officer, or ability to attend and complete academy training for AZ POST certification.
  • Ability to become and maintain TOC Level B Certification.
  • Pass an extensive law enforcement background investigation (fingerprinting, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and other related testing).
  • Strong communication skills, ability to prepare accurate reports, analyze situations quickly, and make appropriate decisions under stress.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call‑backs.
