City of Kingman Electricalian III Water Operations Division – Public Works
The City of Kingman is seeking an experienced Electrician to perform advanced journey-level electrical work to support City water operations. This role focuses on the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Work is performed with a high level of independence and technical responsibility and includes participation in an on‑call rotation to support emergency and after‑hours needs.

You are a skilled electrician who is comfortable working independently, diagnosing complex electrical issues, and making sound decisions in the field. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to safety, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications are essential. Experience working in commercial, industrial, or utility environments is highly preferred.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Technical or trade school coursework, apprenticeship, or equivalent electrical training
- Completion of a recognized four‑year electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training
- At least three (3) years of experience as a skilled electrician including two (2) or more years in a commercial or industrial environment
- Valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License at a minimum level of Class B or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire
- Ability to respond to emergency call‑outs and participate in an on‑call rotation
- Based on assignment, ability to obtain required certifications, including NIMS
- Assignments may require obtaining Arizona Grade 1 Water or Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification
Perform advanced journey‑level electrical work supporting water facilities, including installation, inspection, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Diagnose and correct electrical problems, replace faulty components, and test systems to ensure proper operation. Install and maintain motors, pumps, generators, booster stations, transformers, substations, and related control equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, logic charts, and manufacturer manuals to identify malfunctions and ensure compliance with applicable codes.
Coordinate installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance with plant operations staff, mechanics, technicians, and outside services.
Inspect equipment for compliance with specifications and technical codes. Maintain daily activity logs, preventive maintenance records, wiring diagrams, and basic project cost estimates. Replenish electrical supplies, maintain parts inventory, and ensure materials are available to support maintenance and repair activities.
Operational Support (15%)Respond to emergency call‑outs, report hazards and equipment issues, and perform assigned construction, mechanical, and maintenance work. Clean and maintain tools and equipment, communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and the public, and provide quality customer service.
