Grant Funded Domestic Violence Advocate/Office Assistant

The Mohave County Attorney's Office is seeking to hire for a Grant Funded Domestic Violence Advocate/Office Assistant. Position currently located at 301 Pine St. but will relocate later in 2026 to the New Legal Services Center. Are you looking to work for a place that tackles real issues in our community? Our Mission:

To conduct the prosecution of all felony offenses within the County and the prosecution of misdemeanors in the unincorporated areas. Advise law enforcement agencies and the grand jury. Assist crime victims and witnesses. Represent County government and its agencies, and other public agencies.

Domestic Violence Advocate/Office Assistant ->
Salary Range 6 Step 2-8 $ 15.45 - $18.45/hr monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Weekends and holidays off.

About us:

The Domestic Violence Advocate receives copies of the Victim Rights' Forms issued by Law Enforcement Agencies to crime victims of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Advocate contacts the crime victim listed on the Victim Rights' Form and informs the crime victim of the Defendant's Initial Appearance Hearing and their right to make a statement regarding the defendant's release conditions at that hearing.

The Domestic Violence Advocate assists the crime victim with completing the victim impact statement and submits it to the court prior to the defendant's Initial Appearance Hearing. The court takes the statement into consideration when setting release conditions and/or bond on the defendant in the case. The Domestic Violence Advocate attends court with or on behalf of the crime victim throughout the criminal justice process of their case.

The Domestic Violence Advocate provides the crime victim with information about the criminal justice system, victims' rights and how to obtain notifications of criminal justice events in their case. The Domestic Violence Advocate assists the crime victim with safety planning, completing the Order of Protections forms in the Arizona Protective Order Initiation & Notification Tool (AZ Point System) and provides the crime victim with referrals to local resources.

The Domestic Violence Advocate provides the crime victim with information regarding the Victim Compensation Program and assists with the completion of the application.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Meets and greets the public.
  • Receives phone calls and responds to questions concerning department procedures or directs query to an individual or department as appropriate.
  • May talk with individuals to gather preliminary information or verify information for various County programs or activities.
  • As requested, review work of other staff for conformance to regulations.
  • Understands and interprets procedures and practices related to various departmental and assigned programs.
  • Assists an office superior by performing routine administrative details including but not limited to sorting and routing department mail, making copies, scanning documents, filing, alphabetizing documents and date stamping incoming documents, maintaining waiting lists for services, maintain program specific databases and spreadsheets.
  • Contacts vendors to obtain prices and purchases various supplies and materials.
  • Maintains and establishes associated files to include entering information and documents into filing and data systems ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Types forms, letters, reports, and file cards from draft, or rough copy.
