Steady Rest Mechanical Technician

The Steady Rest Mechanical Technician prepares packages for shipping and installation ofworkholdingequipment and may berequiredto install or repair equipment at various remote locations.

Maintains inventory of standardworkholdingcomponents by checking inventory levels and preparing requisitions for purchase of stock components.

Works with vendors in selection of compatibleworkholdingcomponents and delivery ofworkholdingparts from vendors.

Updates standard installation parts lists forworkholdingin excel spreadsheets.

Works from assembly drawings tobuild upvalve packages forworkholdingproducts by assembling components to specifications.

Makes hydraulic rubber and stainless steelhose assemblies forworkholdingpackages by measuring and cutting hoses to length,operatinga saw, and operating a diecrimper..

Works from assembly drawings tobuild upbase and bracket assemblies by assembling components to specifications.

Pulls parts and prepares parts items needed to fill orders from Field Service Technicians for completionofworkholdingproduct installations.

Prepares packages for shipment including boxing, skidding, shrink wrapping, and banding.

Operatescompanyforkliftas necessary.

Assists Production Department with Assembly when time is available

Performs field service installations as required(approximately 10% or less of the time of total work performed) with duties as listed below:

Installs and repairs new or modifiedworkholdingcomponents equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.

Inspects malfunctioning or damaged product todeterminenature and scope of problem.

Visually inspects and tests components and equipment for defects and malfunctions.

Analyzes review and inspection findings todeterminesourceof problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.

Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel toexpediterepairs.

Dismantles defective products and equipment and installs replacement parts.

Provides on-site and telephone technicalassistanceto help troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, wiring and electrical components of machinery and equipment.

Installs and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.

Conducts operational, maintenance, and safety training during productinstallon the operations of the equipment anddemonstratesskills to trainees, including both team members and customers.

Documents installation and repair of equipment.

Documents telephone conversations on troubleshooting for future reference.

Remains current with new and existing product information, including installation procedures, andparticipatesin available training programs.

Recognizes the setup and operation of machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate parts.

Responsible for returning any warranty parts delivered to his care, properly identified as required by the established procedure of the Operations Department.

Responsible for care and upkeep of individual and company tools and equipment.

Presents the desired image of the company both internally and externally through proper dress and demeanor.

Diligent in remaining cost effective on travel arrangements and accommodations.

Performs other such dutiesrequiredtomaintainthe established standards of performance asdeterminedby the National Product Manager, Steady Restsand Collect Chucks.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel will be approximately
10% domesticandinternational. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Associate'sdegree (A.

A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
