Site Safety and Health Officer

System One is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer in Kingsland, GA to advise and assist the project manager, program manager, and/or other project personnel in conforming to our client’s Environmental, Safety, Health, and Risk management program, policies, and procedures.

Important Details
  • Temp-to-hire position with possibility of conversion to a permanent role after 520 hours worked
  • Pay rate range: $43.27 - 45.67/hr salary will be commensurate with experience.
  • Per Diem: $50/day (for anyone living 50+ miles from the jobsite)
  • Work schedule:

    Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Weekly pay
  • Benefits after 30 days (health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, etc.)
  • 401k after 30 days
  • Interviews required via Microsoft Teams
  • Job offer will be contingent on drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to obtain a "base access card" through the Navy (clean background)
  • US Citizenship is REQUIRED
Specific Responsibilities
  • Advises and assists the project manager, program manager, and/or other project personnel in conforming to our client’s Environmental, Safety, Health, and Risk Program (ESHARP) management system and our client’s policies and procedures.
  • Assists in project audits and against corporate standards.
  • Inspects worksites to detect hazards and provides expertise to project or program personnel to eliminate/control the SH&E risks associated with exposure to the hazards.
  • Assist in creation of written audit and inspection reports.
  • Implements our client’s occupational injury and incident reporting and management processes.
  • Initiates and conducts thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses using defensible protocols.
  • Works collaboratively with the project or program manager, craft workers, and other project or program personnel to identify effective corrective actions.
  • Creates and submits comprehensive investigation reports and lessons learned.
  • Represents the SH&E manager or director on project or program worksites.
  • Seeks active and personal participation from the project or program manager, craft workers, and other project or program personnel to identify SH&E improvements and to implement the improvements.
  • Assists with risk assessments for upcoming work and provides SH&E subject matter expertise to work planning processes.
  • Assists the project or program manager with new hire orientation.
  • Performs regulatory and best practice SH&E training.
  • Creates and maintains SH&E training records.
  • Participates in routine safe work briefings.
  • Assists in the development of safety plans, risk analysis, and hazard analysis for project development.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Skills and Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of Federal and State health and safety regulations and reporting procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of USACE EM 385-1-1 safety regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of safety-related national consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Education and Typical Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • 3+ years of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of government safety regulations and working environments Licenses and Certifications
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction Health and Safety Technician preferred
  • OSHA 30 certified. Outreach trainer certification preferred.
