This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kingsport, Tennessee, for a Commercial Building Inspector or Plans Examiner. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting commercial building projects for code compliance, reviewing construction plans, interpreting building codes and regulations, preparing inspection reports, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The role involves interacting with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet legal requirements and promoting the safety and integrity of structures within the city.
Qualifications- Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, construction standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Competence in conducting detailed inspections and creating accurate reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in identifying and addressing code violations or construction issues.
- Certifications related to building code inspection or plan examination are required.
- Proficiency in using software or technology tools relevant to building inspection and plans examination processes.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to different locations within the city as needed.
- Experience working in local government or a similar regulatory role is highly desirable.
